TRAINING

Multimedia Workshop on Brief Intervention for Substance Abusing Adolescents

TRI offers a range of training and consultation on various topics related to addiction assessment, treatment and evaluation.

TRI staff provide training on the Addiction Severity Index for small or large groups of providers, using protocols developed and empirically evaluated by creators of the instrument.

Alone or in combination with ASI training, developers of the ONDCP-funded Drug Evaluation Network System (DENS™) Software teach providers to use this automated version of the ASI and the various clinical and reporting features it offers.

TRI offers training to treatment providers and others on CASPAR, the Computer-Assisted System for Patient Assessment and Referral designated an NREPP evidence-based practice in March 2010. CASPAR incorporates the DENS ASI software along with an electronic Resource Guide of local, free or low-cost services to facilitate need-services matching based on ASI assessment data. Trainings include sessions for creating, maintaining and using a Resource Guide for any area of the country, or populating/using the CASPAR-C™, a Microsoft® Access application available for purchase from TRI. Clinicians trained to use a CASPAR system developed and tested in Philadelphia were shown to have received more services matched to needs uncovered in the assessment and stayed in treatment longer.

Other training and consultation is available on a wide range of assessment, treatment-needs matching, agency or state trends tracking, and other data collection and performance monitoring issues.
